Starting up a server?
#1

There's only one response to that. Don't even waste your time. You're probably wondering, why? I want to have my own community. Well, there's a few reasons. There are many stable servers that are already out there, that many people have outstanding stats and positions on, so ask yourself this question... "Why would someone leave a popular server that they have everything on, for a server that's dead?".

New servers might peak to 20-30 players one time, then slowly, die out. The only reason players join new servers, is to see if they can get a free admin position, or lead a faction, an feel like they are something on a server for a bit. But ultimately, they go back to the popular server, where the actual RP and stability is. All new players on your server want to do is try and take advantage of you, and get free stuff.

Bottom line, there's no reason to start up a new server, when there are plenty of stable ones already out there. So, your best option is to try and become a well-known member on a popular server, or a member of the development team there, not starting up your own server, because you are only wasting your time.

Hope this gets a point across to some people, and please note, I am saying this to be mean, I am only just trying to help, and keep people from wasting time and money, to only fail.

Wrong. Absolute bullshit ! Have helped start 2 servers, and a third right now, and had a cool playerbase. The first ultimately came UNDER DDOS attacks, and got shut down due to downtime. The second is still going strong, and the third I hope..
It depends. If someone puts together a server within some days of copied/released scripts and filterscripts, hell yes, it's going to fail. Otherwise, if you put in work like we are doing, there is hope !

This is true in almost every case. If your server is something completely new or something that SAMP is lacking (sniper warfare, zombie survival) then maybe it has a chance, but to all these new roleplay servers... completely true, it's never going to work, especially if you're just ripping off a well known script and copying every other server out there.

It depends on the server staff how the server will be. If owner just accepts everyone as admin, 'because they like the person' who they don't even know in real, then yes, everything will most likely be a fail. However, if you are a responsible community owner, you choose your staff with care. If the community owner is a 10 year old who doesn't even know how to manage certain things, or how to seem 'mature' in other peoples eyes (with this I mean, that you need to be able to make mature and good decisions for your community), then yes, there is no point in starting a server.

As Coltmaster said above, if you have a ripped off script, you're probably only going to attract noobs who don't come to Roleplay, but just to come for admin positions or things like that. I, for example, am working on a Roleplay script from scratch for nearly 2 years now. I do know the high amount of Roleplay servers currently out there, but why do you think I'm still not going online? Because the script needs to be perfect. You can't start before everything is done.

Buddy, you are allowed to join what server you want. Joining a server that you disagree with is not mandatory, therefore this thread is senseless.

To be honest I think now is the time to just play on servers, not to make them. Eventually a lot of people will start playing on more modern multiplayer modifications, I don't think anyone has enough time to set up a big server/community before that starts to happen.
