Multi-Language Servers?
#1

I was wandering if there are any multi-language RP servers? It would be cool, since even in reality, not everyone speaks the same language. I can see it happening, but can anyone think of a way around reporting players?

Ie: A spanish speaker couldn't respond to a report on them in English unless they spoke both languages.

My proposals are that admins can do

/ban [reason] [language]

The language would translate etc, but of course, reasons would need to be defined already. I'd also represent languages with different coloured tags.

Any other ideas?

Well considering you would have to send different messages depending on which language a player has set, it might be more of a pain in the ass than it's worth. I like how it is now. You have Russian servers, you have English servers, you have Brazilian servers, etc, etc, etc.

I would prefer that players who can't comprehend and respond in proper English stay away from my server. However, that's just my personal opinion.

I'm not sure about this, but I would likely see one if there's any.

That's true, but it's restricting a much larger potential player-base. I know if those Russian servers with 500 plus players would be larger if they supported English too. ;(

SACNR has basic support for multiple languages - the rules and help texts are written in a variety of different languages and they have admins from all over the world speaking different languages.

That's cool, but I wonder how they deal with rulebreakers across language barriers ingame.

Translating on-the-fly is going to be difficult. In the past you had ******'s Translate API, but that's now a paid service.
