Sound Card Problem
#1

I ordered a new PCI sound card (ASUS Xonar DG) and I'm having some trouble installing it into my PC. I'm pretty sure that the problem is that the metal strip going down is a couple millimeters too long and it is not allowing it to go in the slot all the way.

What should I do? Should I go out to home depot and buy metal clippers to make it shorter? That would obviously void my warranty though.

Thanks.

LOL. How would clipping a little piece of metal void your warranty?

Just clip it off.

Most to all warranties say that if you edit or do custom modifications, you cannot return them.

That looks like a standard PCI card's size from what I can see. What type of tower do you have?

I compared the metal bracket that came with my case and the one on the sound card. It is in fact longer, just long enough to stop part of the card fitting into the slot.

I'm using the Cooler Master HAF 932 and the motherboard is ASUS P8P67.

Can't you open like the other side of the box and place it in? Or something else is block it..

If so there is nothing that you can do, since you don't want to break that piece off.

I'd just clip it off, They aren't very expensive if it doesn't work. You could actually just unscrew the whole clip from it. The card isn't heavy at all so the slot could probably support it anyway.

One suggestion .. if you're sure it's working, why not cut the tip? not impact the operation of the board ... or strip off the motherboard fits the sound card installs and tests whether it has good passes on the knife edge and be happy! the piece that irбcortar not impact on anything
