I'm having some trouble with Fraps..
#1

Hey guys, I wanted to record some gameplay of Mafia 2, GTA SA, Gmod, ect. I get around 100 FPS constant on SA (due to a limiter I think), Mafia 2 60 FPS (again a limiter) and Gmod I get around 200 fps. Now, whenever I try and record, GTA SA gets around 17 FPS. Mafia 2 around 20, and GMOD around 20. I'm really confused on why my frames drop so much. I'm currently doing a full virus scan to see if there are any viruses causing this issue, but I don't think that is the problem. I have recorded to my both 7200 RPM drives, but they both lag like that. I reinstalled fraps but it still lags.

My specs:

AMD Phenom x4 965 Black edition
AMD Radeon 6870 1 GB
4 GB Kensington ram
Seagate 7200 RPM 250 GB
Hitachi 7200 RPM 80gb (for my steam games and video)
Corsair CX500w power supply

I don't know why it is lagging. Help?

Setting it to half size lessens the lag, but you loose quality.

Yeah, still laggy.

I did put it at 60, 50, 40, and 30 FPS, they all lag.

I just made this thing. It is perfectly capable of recording. My uncles 550ti and almost EXACTLY the same specs can do it.

Always record to a different harddrive. If you record on the same harddrive the game is located you can experience a huge framedrop. Except when you have an SSD though.

I did, I am downloading L.A. Noire though, that could be causing the issue, but, I don't believe it would because I've done it before without downloading and it lags..
