Computer help, I need help badly.

Hey guys, I got a new graphics card, an AMD Radeon 6870. I was playing Just Cause 2 and my PC turned off. I was confused, so I went to open the casing and it made a loud pop, and it sparked. It now won't even turn on. I believe it is the power supply, so I went and purchased a quality power supply (Corsair 500w) and it should come tomorrow. I'm wondering, Is it actually the power supply?

The same for my sound, the audio card got broken, and I purchased a USB sound (you just plug the sound cable in),I was playing on a server suddenly, the PC turned off I opened it again I found the USB got broken.

You'll have many problems with the power supply same as mine,my internet is working via USB,and I'm going to purchase a new sound USB tomorow.

No solution for this you need a very very good PC for that.

Even mine is very good and I purchased it few months ago. it's totally broken,no solution for this!

and yes the problem is the power supply.

Thats the magic of static energy. Never open up your casing without grounding yourself. (I usally don't do it myself, VERY BAD practice).

In all honesty your probably screwed, if you're unlucky you fried your motherboard. You should start by removing all hardware like GFX card, network or sound cars everything that can be unplucked. If this does nothing, it means there is something broken either on the Motherboad, CPU or PSU. (when your CPU is broken, theres a big chance the motherboard shows no life at all).

After that you can try switching out the PSU like you'll be doing now. If nothing works I suggest you return it to a store, tell them that you're afraid you fried something with static energy, they can easily see if the circuits are broken. I usally do that myself, I'm not sure what the devices for such things are called in English but you can pick them up at a store. (the device can measure if electricty can flow between two points, easy explanation).

Remove the graphics card, if thats the component that died then it can often cause a short preventing the machine from powering on. Then either try to power up without it (bios will likely beep at you to say 'you've no video device') or put your old card in its place and try to boot.

I can't return it, due to making it myself. I am thinking it was the PSU, it wasn't a very expensive one (pretty much a no-name) so I hope that fixes it.

I didn't mean return it, I simply meant bring it to an ICT store, they can easily see if anythings broken. Just for testing I doubt they'll charge you anything. Either that, or you could try smelling if anything smells burned, can give you a raw indication.

It smells a bit burned, but that is probably just a normal computer smell, it doesn't smell like a bad burned smell, just like PC smell xD.

You just wasted your money. It's definitely the graphics card, NOT the power supply. Try another one, does it work? If so, the graphics card fried. That happened to me once while playing SA:MP, the card was an AMD just like yours.
