Volt blatantly stealing scripts?

Hey,

I've just been scanning through Volt-Host's Terms of Service, and found something which many users probably didn't know about.

A user with a negative balance at Volt Host due to dispute fees who has not contacted or attempted to resolve the negative balance with support after a period of (1) month agrees to grant full ownership without any copyright of all of his/her respective data such as scripts, databases and files hosted on our services. These files may be used, redistributed, released and modified by Volt Host at their discretion.
This is them, blatantly admitting, if you don't pay for the services, or you place a dispute.. we'll take your script and use it ourselves, k.

Probably not a lot of you's aware, so just warning you all.

<sarcasm>Yup, I've seen Volt Host steal user's scripts and then open up servers publicly for everyone to play on!</sarcasm>

I'm sure even as they have that part of their agreement, they don't go opening up thousands of servers from customers who have not paid.

And how can YOU be sure of that? Why do they feel the need to put that in their ToS in the first place then?

Well, what happens when you take a loan from a bank & do not repay it back? The bank acquires your property and is legally authorized to put your property on auction in order to claim its amount.

There can be many cases where in you pay Volt-Host for the service they provide and then open a dispute with Paypal/OneBip, etc. To deal with such instances, companies resort to such terms, which is quite agreeable and legitimate.

Also, Volt-Host offers you 1 month of grace period, in spite of such event, which is very genuine on their part. Stop trying to misunderstand & mislead.

The user deserves to be fined that amount as a penalty against such immature actions taken by him. Its a compromise against the productive time & resources of Volt-Host LLC, invested in the dispute & their services being misused by the user. Its quite appropriate.

These attempts to defame the reputation of such esteemed services are definitely intolerable.

Because it's more of a warning to get users to pay their services on time. It should be a motivation to get users to pay before, not after the invoice deadline.

And I never said I was sure, but please tell me do you see Volt announcing servers they have opened up to the public for play? And not even more than 5 servers.

donB has the perfect example of what Volt's agreement system is like. Great job.

Do you see me trying to mislead others? No. I'm simply wanting to warn those who aren't aware of it, and discuss others views on this.

If you see this thread as attempting to damage their reputation, you're free to leave.

You're misleading people by posting this thread. It's an insurance policy; it's not something they're necessarily going to do.

They say they own the contents of your files - did they say they would release it? Also, how is it theft if you comply with it? You signed it away, it's theirs - it's no longer yours.

They simply wouldn't just randomly release client files without a very good reason, Mark is a rational person and I believe he only implemented that in to the T&Cs as an insurance policy.

Because people would cry and post threads every few days if they did this.
