On topic: It varies with the servers. In some servers you can just help them out and be friends with some members or just apply (usually DM styled servers). In other servers you need to RP with them in order to get in. For example: You see them in the streets, you approach them, ask them something and do the rest yourself.

Why don't you ask on their forum? We don't know, you need to speak to them. Or if they don't have one then ask someone in-game.
