SA-MP doesn't have the power to "take down" a market for selling scripts, especially without any evidence. Plus, a part of the market's rules were to refrain from giving the SA-MP package (any SA-MP binaries, etc) with your releases or selling the SA-MP package on, but they presumably can't do much if you only use the natives that aren't linked to anything.

AM closed because the owner, Seif, didn't have the time to keep it running, so Carlton made a new market.

Though there are rumours and screenshots of SAMP team sending Seif an email of somesort asking him to close it ? search it on ******

There's a difference between asking and doing. That's why SA-MP generally blacklisted any links to AM here.

Ah i see, so Gta Market isnt really illegal so its safe to post sales on there correct?

No, it's not illegal, but it might be condemned by the SA-MP team again in the near future.

The GTA:SA license agreement says that all modifications must be distributed for free. I think you could potentially charge people for your scripting services and know-how, but making a site to sell scripts could be violating the GTA:SA license.

That's just my personal opinion from reading the license though, and not any type of legal advice.

Many scripts sold contain portions of script written by others, or script code that originated from the SA-MP server files. Is it right to do this? Most of the people who run these type of sites have a history of attacking SA-MP also.

I've generally avoided directly selling scripts to avoid sensitive issues like this, but I do occasionally script things for people for money.

But surely if selling scripts could be against the license, wouldn't allowing subscribers or 'donators' in a SA-MP server be seen in the same light? After all, you're modifying the GTA:SA game to an extent via SA-MP for people who 'donated'/paid for the upgraded service, for example a server allowing people to buy 'VIP' for $5 where you can have extra cars with special colours? I generally haven't seen anyone condemn this yet.

Many other services use other portions of code and software for the purpose of selling, an example of this would be the use of the OggVorbis SDK in GTA:SA. OggVorbis' SDK was presumably not made for people to use in programs that would be sold on, but the same thing goes for SA-MP scripts in my opinion, you (SA-MP) haven't told us directly that we're not allowed to sell scripts - and a lot of us would probably avoid from doing so if we were directly told we weren't allowed to (with the assumed exception that Carlton and the others who have a 'history of attacking SA-MP').

That's why it's called a donation in the server, because a donation is where you are not specifically purchasing anything, you are simply making a payment to an organization with no expectation of getting anything back. Even at that, the servers could argue that you are paying $5 a month to simply get a value in the SQL database set to true. That isn't even related to GTA:SA. They are not directly selling code which modifies how the game plays out.
