Most of the times (like 80% of them) that I want to check the map on the pause menu, I crash.

Goto to "options" > "display" > and turn "off" > "legend"

iRana's will work, Your solution would more fix a graphics/settings based issue. The legend would more likely be enabled by default.

I had this problem too but it was solved, Are you using a Torrented version of the game or a bought because many Torrented versions have a few screw ups in them therefore get the Original Game and re install it - My opinion Hope it helps.

It's simply the map legend crashing the game because it's enabled.
