Well like I said it happens just when I open it, the svchost.exe process
takes up upto 99-100% of CPU Usage, I have lots of icon on my desktop
(if 48 is "lots"), and i have 512MB of RAM...
This may be a problem, I suggest you put the extra stuff into a folder (untill you have 10-19 icons left)

What about your harddrives memory, you can veiw this by going to start->my computer->Right click on the c:\ drive->propertys
A pie chart should come up if you're using xp
