I agree with Seif. Have originally ideas and write all of the code yourself. Not downloading an original gamemode, and replacing the name with your own.
Features, Items, Bonus's. Idea's that you never see. Use functions and callbacks that you hardly ever see in servers (I say that very loosely). Textdraws, Gang Zones. Depends on your gamemode type really.
