We eventually found the bug causing the crash using crashdetect, debugging, and using YSI debug mode. If it helps you find out why crashdetect won't report the crash properly the cause of the crash is valstr with numbers larger than 1,410,065,408. This bug has been documented here: https://github.com/Y-Less/YSI/issues/43
