i've ran the game best on manjaro with wine 3.x but what i'm trying to say is that even if you can start the game with wine 1.8.7 i promise you won't want to play with that version, nor 2.x after you tried 3.x
it's best to run the game on windows 7, as the performance with an 280x [7970] amd card was 25% of what it's capable [nvidia is far worse], and it wasn't reliable.
