To answer your question:
In most traditional RPG modes, your respect increases for every hour you play (by every hour I mean you need to be playing at about 1 minute past the hour). This is also known as your payday where you will receive an amount of money. Usually, you will need to play a specific amount of time within the hour for you to be eligible for a payday check.
