Yes, it's alive, they update their ******* every now and then.
To be fair, everyone in the game industry does this now a days, I mean, look at Rockstar with GTA Online, I got like 1 million GTA$$ just for pre-ordering. Also, they seem to be pretty successful with their Roleplay servers on Arma III.
Back on topic, I don't think there's any game out there focused JUST on multiplayer RP, but there are mods, like Arma III and Garry's Mod (RP sucks there though). In my opinion, SA-MP is the best option for RP at the moment, we'll have to wait for GTA-MP or Identity and see how things play out.

Id like to make the assumption that not only this behaves similar to samp. With "dozens of jobs" it is pretty obvious that theyll turn out to be samp-server-like minigames that quickly get lame. I mean, thousands of 13-year-old server owners cant create interesting "virtual versions" of jobs that actually arent interesting at all IRL. So why should a team of semi-professional game developers manage to do it any better? |
