you've switched the modems over, and there was no difference?
Can the other users use ping to the modem, and from there your ISPs webpage while you are ingame? (Ping to check a response Run cmd Ping 192.168.1.1 (Maybe diff on yours) Ping ******.com Ping www.whatever.com and record results) What's your speed at on your connection too, not that in this day and age it should be an issue, but checking... Also, have you been doing advanced setups to the routers in the past? DD-WRT? OpenWRT e.t.c? And have your PCs on the internal network, changed anything from the network settings in the past, such as setting IPs so that they could browse or do anything. Disabling DHCP on a PC will sometimes fix issues, but later on down the track, IP conflicts can cause problems. When those PCs lose connection, in the tasktray in windows Vista onward, the network icon should also say what's wrong. Some will simply say "Internet unavailable" but some say more, like IP conflict and such. |
The only settings I've changed on my internet is the DNS settings, that's because I was getting DNS errors when loading websites. I still do occasionally.
Most of the time when my internet goes out it looks as if it's still connected on the taskbar, but will say it's unavailable for just a few seconds before connecting back to the internet.
