I've said a few times, editing existing scripts is a great way to not only learn scripting, but pick up neat tips & tricks along the way. Like most things, there's lots of ways of doing things but some ways are more efficient than others.
Skim through existing code, If you don't know what it means look it up on the wiki and you'll piece the puzzle together in no-time.
Then try replicating it, make a FS to start off with or something like that, and work your way up. Post on the forums if you get badly stuck!
