You don't need 1000w. I have a Corsair 750w PSU with an OC i7-4790k @4.6Ghz and a ASUS GTX 970 STRIX which is also factory OC'd. I could run SLI 970's and still have enough power left for more things, the new 900 series GPU's are incredibly efficient.

8GB of RAM is enough for gaming, I currently have 24gb of Kingston 1866mhz HyperX Fury, but it's purely for looks. Also; if you're ever planning to OC that CPU, I'd suggest a CPU cooler.
