Hi.
I'm starting a sensitive subject: server admins and/or owners abuse.
I'm not talking about situations where some kids are unhappy with admins punishing them for the right reason(s) or about hackers trying to get even on the admins.
I'm talking about REAL abuse.
On any server I noticed such kind: admins/owners breaking the rules or, more, creating rules to allow them to abuse players.
They are muting, jailing, exploding, killing with minigun/Hydra/Hunter, kicking, banning sometimes just to have fun or to make normal players understand who has the POWER.
We all know the saying "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely". In this case it applies 100%: these admins/owners have absolute power and they are definitely corrupted by it.
In my 6 years on Samp I have seen many such cases.
The last one I saw was on a Stunt/DM/Freeroam server where players bet up to 50K on duelers. The owner broke the rule many times by betting even 1 billion (!) but he banned a player who bet 100K a few times (without breaking the rules, just "bending" them).
That's a classic case of "double standard".
What normal players can do? Actually not much.
The admins/owners abuse is difficult to prove and even more difficult to punish. For that you have to either keep Fraps on all the time, which is impossible for most of the players, or to outsmart them and make them break the rules to record them, which is difficult, because they're smart, of course.
And even with good proofs they are rarely punished. Owners obviously never gets punished. Is their server but still...
So, the only REAL options are to leave the server and/or to never donate to help the server.
But both solutions are crappy. They do not solve the real problem(s).
Any thoughts...?
Later edit:
Forgot to mention: admins/owners can see every server and forum PMs. So, if you want to talk to a friend, you have no privacy using "Private Messages"...
Yes, that sometimes helps admins to track rulebreakers but still, it's like saying the government have the right to read everybody's mail to catch terrorists. In translation: "The end justifies the means".
