Kalcor has his visitor messages off so I don't think it bothers him and the forum moderators maybe didn't request for it before.

Changing nickname might not bother the forum moderators, but the forum users it does.

Also, showing old nicknames can be implemented easily, there is even a name change plugin that gives a name change per period of time and saves the old nicknames for vBulletin
