I've been playing for 15 years and have 1 string snap when I was using it, it was my friends guitar and I was tuning it, and it hadn't been used in several years.
Other strings have just snapped in the middle of the night or day when I'm not using it, but that accounts for about 5 strings snapped

I have tuned without a tuner a several times but when ever I can I always use a tuner, there's also several free guitar tuner apps on ****** play.
