I believe y_ini has a more structured way of reading inis, and anything done with dini will probably fail (for example, the tags), however you should have no problem reading with dini already made y_ini files since the keys for the values are the same in both (=), and dini checks for that key.
I do recommend y_ini completely though, it's way more faster than dini. Alternatively you can use SQL, however SQL is not bullet proof and you can screw up something very easily with it.
