You're right, in the second episode of the new Doctor Who, The Doctor takes Rose to see this event.

And everything in Doctor Who is true, so don't argue about it.

Back to the actual question:

When the media talked alot about it back in '09 I was a little scared, but when I dug deeper I saw it just couldn't be true due to the fact it had almost no scientific backup. When they actually backed up they information with research, I found the data was highly questionable.

Later on, when I grown wiser, I wasn't scared anymore but I collected some stuff, just in case something was about to happen. I didn't believe in it anymore but I'm the type of guy that hates taking risks.
