It depends on where you have hosted your forum,example if at 000webhost,they are giving backups,and you can request another free domain name.

I would suggest you to check namecheap.com, it costs only 10.69$ per year for an .com/net/org domain.

You can also make your forum link .tk, by visiting the dot.tk website.
