I dont want to give away any secrets , but I will say this: It is possible to get custom maps showing on the mini map, however, it wont show on the map when you pause the game. It is actually quite hard to do this. On Convoy Trucking, they use a certain functions that you might not expect. I'll let you figure out the rest.
