My server does not accept my IP address

I finished scripting my server and then connected it to my internal IP address and it worked. But I found on SAMP forums that only external IP will make my server appear to all SAMP players and the internal makes my server just show up to my private network connection. I entered my external IP address for my server instead my internal and it just says Retreiving info.....
Please help.
