Internet Scams
#1

Hey all,

I wouldn't ask if I had anywhere better to discuss but I really need help, long story short my mom and dad have a laptop that my little brother uses and he downloads shit, my parents buy a lot of stuff online and now we've had Ј1000 took out the bank in 5 chunks, the payments was taken out as PETFRE INTERNETSALES. What sort of "shit" that my brother could download could cause this, also, does anybody have any idea what petfre is? I did some digging and found it was registered by betfred but nothing else.

Thanks a lot!

I'v asked my family, their persistent that they've never betted through them, are they associated with [places like ladbrokes though? Also we've found out the money was actually taken out of a chip and pin machine, could this mean they've cloned the card? To top it of, a withdrawal from a near petrol station isn't showing up on the statements, but I withdrawed the money that day and nothing really stuck out on the machine.

We got 5 infections, as follows:
- Hlojaa.exe
-hs.exe
-hsr.exe
-hsp.exe
-51VGLJD1\K[1].HTM

Thanks a lot.

HSR.EXETrojan.Agent/Gen-FraudLoad

The file HSR.EXE should be immediately removed from your system using an antivirus if the file is found to be harmful after you scan HSR.EXE with an good free anivirus like Comodo

Ye that happens often, they place something like a scanner in the Card Slot and copy the data of the card. They do something like that for the pass too.It happaned at me like 3-4 years ago but I only had 80 Euros so no big deal......However it would be a good idea to cancel their current card an get a new one.

This has happened to me before.

Freeze the account ASAP. Contact your local bank branch and talk to them about what happened. 2 years ago my card was copied and someone took out 1000 dollars out of my account. right away they froze my account and called my cell number to see if I was the one who took the money out. (I was 14 at the time and the banker is a family friend) So she told us what happened and a security camera caught the guy that did it (he came back again)

keyloggers can take your account passwords even your cards..you better take them out right away..that hr.exe file is an windows application..no need to worry about that if it's not infected..

Yeah, freeze account, report it to the bank,

Get a CLEAN PC, Virus free, and up to date, and check and change password on ALL of your e-mail accounts, IM networks and forum accounts. Also, Change your password on your internet banking.

By reporting it to the bank, they can track the payment, and chase it up... They can also re-imburse you if they can find the way that they did it. Just make sure you check everything and clean out your PC.

Re-formats are always good.

But they wouldn't be able to clone a card using data you have inputted online? Surely their are things like account numbers that they won't know? Thats what i don't understand, if they've used chip and in they must have cloned a card, so is this through using a dodgy ATM?

they actually are able to clone your card over the net
if they got ur infos they just use that on a blank card
with sum magnetic machinism which rewrites the stuff on the card

So they obviously wouldn't encrupt the cards would they? What i'm saying is to be able to make a fake card they'de need a lot more information than what we type in on amazon, also, how do they find out the PIN number on the internet?

I'm starting to doubt whether this was actually a hack done on a computer but instead a modified ATM?
