I was wondering if I've been a bit dopey and overlooked the solution? If not, help!

Have you tried compatibility modes?

That's odd, I'm using Vista Business x64 and it works fine on it.
I only get that message when I'm trying to run old 16-bit applications.

You can try downloading the file again and make sure you're downloading it from the right mirror.

I've tried downloading it from both mirrors to no avail.

I noticed other people posting about the same issue so I've tried redownloading it myself and when I tried to install it I got the same message.
I then tried running the other installer I downloaded a few months ago when 0.3a was released to make sure nothing had changed on my PC and guess what... it still works.

So to sum it up: the 2 files are different, this can be confirmed by comparing their size: the old one is 5.054.266 bytes in size wheras the new one is 5.055.316 bytes in size.
So I can't really help you out but it is not a problem with your computer or OS that's for sure.

Edit: I'm being a bit stupid today...
Perhaps a friend of yours has the old one, just ask him to send it to you or maybe someone on this forum can upload it somewhere and post a link (I don't have a proper Web/FTP server else I would have done it).

Hello all,
I have Win7 x64 ultimate, I had the same error message, and got it working by downloading again, and saving it to another disk partition. I first thought, that moving it away from Windows partition somehow did the trick... but it was not that.
After some more testing, I found out, that the 5.054.266 bytes (downloaded from ServerFFS mirror) is the version that works. Just as SMX told in the previous post. The other one (from Littlewhitey's mirror) gives me always that "not compatible..." -message. Both file versions can be found here: http://www.sa-mp.com/download.php

Btw. What's the real difference between these files? They are same version afterall? I would have expected those download links to be mirrors, literally.

Umm, yes, you can. Run the installation in compatibility mode.

This solved my problem, thanks.
