SA:MP Random Flicker
#1

Well, I've had this issue in the past and thought I fixed it and then I stopped playing SA:MP for a while, then I came back to playing it and noticed I still had the issue. This time I've gathered more information about what the issue may or may not be causing it. I have a video of what my issue is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrBjXaYhSGU
I have flickr.asi installed but that does nothing to help with this issue. It appears to happen sometimes when my streaming mem gets to about 500-550. I'm not sure what the issue is, I've had this bug for almost a year now and it's annoying so if anyone can help or point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. Oh and another thing is that I don't know if it has a lot to do with mods, it still does it non-modded/barely modded games.

You have ENB; or another graphic mod. This is probably the problem, try removing it.

This has been happening for a long time, before I had ENB's or graphical mods in general, I've looked into it being graphical mods in the past and nothing of the matter ever fixed.

Do you have another PC you can test this on using the same game files? Have you tried reinstalling GTA? If you are using a pirated version of the game, I'd recommend buying it and seeing if that works.

Steam version. This has been happening across two different PC's that I have tested it on. I've reinstalled GTA once or twice before in the past and it didn't really seem to do anything.

Are the two PC's the same model? Are the graphic drivers up-to-date? Does this happen in singleplayer, or just SA:MP?

No, first PC was ran off of a Integrated Intel CPU. This current PC which was built in January uses a GeForce GTX 660. The drivers were always kept on the most recent one. It has never happened in single player.

Oh I had this issue before, I just reinstalled the SA:MP client and it fixed it. If not you're probably going to need to reinstall GTA SA altogether.

Yeah I'm reinstalling GTA SA right now on Steam, gonna see if that works or not.

Try removing everything related to GTA / SAMP from your %AppData% folder if reinstalling doesn't fix the issue.

I'm looking around in my Roaming folder and I'm not seeing anything related to GTA / SA:MP regardless. Does that mean anything?

I'd like to know what causes this. I haven't seen it myself but I have seen it in several sa-mp videos.

What other asi mods do you have installed? I had a suspicion it was caused by the "crashfix" asi.

Here's my list:
cleo.asi
flickr.asi
imfx.asi
SAMPGraphicRestore.asi
SilentPatchSA.asi
ImVehFt.asi

Those are all the ones that I have installed.

So you do appear to have a graphic(SAMPGraphicRestore.asi) modification. You also have imfx.asi etc which are both graphical mods.

What happens when not using any asi mods? Make a backup first though, Kalcor seems pretty intrested in the cause

Hmm, I don't know then. I think it's an asi causing it but we won't know until more people with the flicker report what asi mods they have installed.

This issue has been happening before mods like this were installed. I only got SAMPGraphicRestore and imfx this year and it was still happening before then. Same thing has happened without asi mods in my game. I've been trying to figure this out for quite some time. But then again I could be wrong.

That hasn't been tested completely yet. But last I checked it didn't happen in singleplayer.

I don't know if this was over looked in the original post but it may or may not have something to do with the streaming memory on SA:MP, I've noticed that it happens when I get around 500-550. At one point it happened when I got to 450 but that changed for some reason.

Update to the issue: It most likely does have something to do with mods, I ran a completely fresh unmodded version of the game for almost an hour so far now and got the streaming mem up to 600 mb and nothing ever happened. So I guess I'll have to start breaking down my game and seeing what it could be.

Edit: No I was completely wrong, it still happens.
