India creates History
#1

India created history on Wednesday, becoming the first country to successfully get a spacecraft into the Martian orbit on its maiden attempt.

Indian Space Research Organisation's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft started orbiting the red planet at 7.47am, but it was only 12 minutes later —because of a time delay in radio signals travelling the 680 million km.

On this mission, Russia and America had failed before.

Cheers.

Meanwhile half its population lives under the poverty threshold. Money well spent.

Sounds nice and all, but India needs to set its priorities straight. Half of its population lives in extreme poverty.

True, Due to unequal balance of economy, poverty is high.
Rich peoples are getting more richer, Poor people getting more poor.

What a waste of money, what's the point of India wasting money on this while most of India is living on the edge with little to no money they need to help the poor. Indian government is corrupt.

India just loaned out Ј227m last year from the UK and they just spent it on this shit, rather than helping their people.

And India is the 4th country to go to mars not the 1st.

What's so big of a deal with that? Wasted money... As others have said, they should rather help the poor than send up shit to mars.

When the technology to do it has been around for half a century it's not that difficult. There are a lot of private companies now that could do it if they wanted to. IMO the money should have been put to better use... Same goes with North Korea and their millions of starving civilians, yet the president decides its better to build a rocket instead.

Indian isn't as bad as North Korea. There isn't anything to be proud of sending a spacecraft to Mars for a country such as India.

Because of India's rapid population growth rate, even that advance, however, has not been sufficient to reduce the absolute number of poor, which increased from around 200 million in the 1950s to 312 million in 1993-94 (most recent Five Year Survey). This leaves India with the largest concentration of poor people in the world

Umm... can't understand one thing.... History or Mystery?

They are just wasting their money on these projects, and they don't even think about other events they can held to decrease the amount of poor people in the country. Host a charity event, for example. I think that this would have cost-ed Indian government about 200+ dollars. I hope the indian government get a lil' bit concentrated over there country instead of these (useless) projects.

R.I.P Indian Government.
