Is my graphics card dying?
#1

I've got a Geforce 8400gs, I've had it for about 1 and a half years.
Lately its performance has dropped, i can't play GTA at highest settings any more it also struggles at the lowest settings.
I get like 50 fps for about 20 minutes, then it drops to about 10-20 and stays there I sometimes get down to 2 fps. I don't think it's over heating because when i check its temperature with ATITools at the point when my fps is really low it's only around 40 degrees celsius and i have the side cover off my computer to cool it down more if it is over heating.

It could be your actual processor, what temp is that running at?

My CPU is an Intel Pentium 4 with 3ghz if that helps. I'll check the temp next time i go play.

I had the same processor before my new pc, same happened to me, though i just cleaned out my computer so it wasn't running so hot and that seemed to solved the laggy gameplay.

I have Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz too, this year the performance reduced for me too, can't make films with Fraps anymore.
And the computer takes longer with loading software.
