Unusual ping problem
#1

I am in uk

Normal ping to the server stated as about 55 on SAMP client front end, in game its about 90

except...
Between 1830 and 2230 uk time whent SAMP client frotn end still shows about 55 but ingame is over 900 !!

Nothing new is running on my machine

Both DOS (command prompt) tracert and ping show very good times (40-60)
http://speedtest.net/ shows ping of about 117ms to Germany and back, server I connecting to somewhere in Germany

Tried other servers with similiar ping as stated on front end, same problem !

Problem only in last few months (didnt notice when, but not more than 2-3 months I suspect)

Had provider do a full 48 hour line check, not issues at all, rate and performance constant.
Tried replacment Broadband moden, no change.
Re-installed poviders cnnection software, no change
Changed net connection to go direct to provider and bypass providers software, no change
Re-installed GTA-SA & SAMP, still got the problem
Ping 0000-1830 90, 1830-2230 900, 2230 back to 90
I dont even have to reconnect, ping just comes down..
Shutdown firewall... no change
Even checked with provider and I not getting 'fair use restrictions', I dont warrant it I been as my downloads/uploads rather low

Anyone got ideas ??

Your ping says 2k, but does it feel like it's 2k?
and can everybody else see it?

The ping is definately in game seeming to be at that level.

Is it coming up in spikes or when you connect is it immediately and constantly have a high latency.
also, do you have wireless/fibre/line?
and you didn't answer me one question: do you feel the lag?

Latter way, immediately and stays high until about 2230 uk time, when it drops down to normal levels

Connection is Line, and that has been checked out, with pings getting to various parts of the world, including Austrailia faster then the ping in SAMP at before mentioned times.

Not sure what you mean by do I feel the lag.
I can say for certain it makes it very hard as an Admin to ascertain if someone is using speedhacks or its lag, hence at this times I reduce myself to other types of hack checks and monitoring, cannot do much else as I lag so much (at least I been told I rarely where I think I am, and apparantly ram quite a bit, before I realised what was wrong)

What is odd is its only with SAMP I have this problem
Checked on a few other online games and not a problem

No new software?
Bluetooth running in the background?
anti-viruses that are scheduled for an update

Also try:

"ping -t www.sa-mp.com" (in your cmd of course)
and check the constant pinging, as soon as it goes high, do a ping to ******.com (don't include the -t)
and check if they are the same, if they aren't then and you have too many NAT and firewall rules configured (on your router), the problem could potentially be a bogged down router due to too many operations being processed.

My advice to you would as soon as it lags, open your Task Manager and goto Processes and end all your programs that need to update and do update automatically, such as anti-viruses, bluetooth and such.

Like I said, is it on every server or only 1 specific one?

I seem to haev same problem if I head to any other server with similiar ping, cant all be in same place..

did the ping to www.sa-mp.com 57ms , yet in game I at over 600ms

SAMP 0.2X Front end says server only at 57-60

If I host myself I got no problem...

I got a Broadband modem, no router invovled
No new software, no bluetooth or wireless, antivirus do updates in early hours of morning so its not that.

No extra software running during the high ping periods that I can see on task Manager, first think I checked.

Its more than 1 server, in fact I tried over 20, all similar result (dont need to actually log in to see ping level)

This has me totally stumped and onyl thin i can see left is a re-install (250GB not funny...)

Well, it must really be your connection, router, firewall or whatnot.
I highly doubt this is a bug in SA-MP, looking at the specific times it happens, all the servers, nobody else having this, etc.

Your router, firewall or configuration might block or slow down SA-MP packets.

I was going to suggest the same thing...
...but, have you tried launching it off another computer at the same time that it is happening to you (if you have access) since it could be your computers personal settings etc...
...or else, check your firewall as stated above.
