Just out of interest, has anyone tried running SA-MP on Windows 7 yet? I fancy having a look at it, and as I only use my laptop for email, browsing, etc, and have a backup Linux install anyway, I'd just overwrite XP.

But then, if SA-MP doesn't work... meh. Anyone tried yet then?

Runs fine, gta_sa.exe without compatibility, and samp.exe with windows 98/me compatibility.

^^ no idea what he's talking about. Everyone I know who has tried it, and myself, all have seen FASTER than XP speeds (never thought I would be saying that) even on machines with 512MB of ram.
