XP or 7 ?
17.09.2011, 14:31
Many people still use Windows XP, so I don't think it sucks, nor can everyone afford a new PC every time a new OS comes out.

Why XP? Why 7?

Between those OS's is a lot. Windows XP is used a lot from users who got a "old" PC. It offers a good performance for who got for exemple 1 GB RAM, a Pentium 4 CPU, and ATI 9550 for exemple. Windows 7 instead offers a good graphic and/or performance, but don't need to have the best PC in the world. Are you'll Win XP has better performance than Win 7 and game won't lag. I don't agree beacuse you have 1 or less GB of RAM. On Win 7 is reccomanded 1 GB for general usage and for gaming at least 1.5GB. That's why people doesn't know why is lagging on 7 and not on xp + win 7 has a better graphic at the same performance.

I'm pretty sure Windows 7 runs just as fine on that - a friend of mine installed Windows 7 on an 1.6GHz Pentium 4 with 512 MB of RAM and a 64MB old NVidia video card and even if it ran without Aero, all games that did ran before ran at the same amount of FPS, and some even higher. My primary laptop has a Celeron M550 @ 2.0GHz, 2 GB of RAM and a 384MB integrated Intel graphics card and everything is so much faster than on XP.
No, Windows XP hasn't got better performance than Windows 7, unless you're on an ancient computer. My nine-year-old desktop runs Windows 7 fine!
Also, the friend I talked about earlier, with his 512 MB of RAM, can still run GTA: SA on medium settings at an acceptable framerate with Winamp, uTorrent and Firefox in the background without any noticeable lag.
For gaming atleast 1.5GB? I say bullshit, good sir.

Hmm, i still don't trust you. If you want i can format my computer, installing, GTA: San Andreas, Fraps (for frame rate) on my old PC. Specs: Pentium D 840 @ 3.40 Ghz 1.5GB of RAM, ATI x550 (Driver detects x330/x550x/x1050). On medium settings i get 30 - 50 sometime over 65 and interiors between 70 - 90. I've already tested win 7 on 512mb of RAM, at the start it used about 200 - 300mb of RAM. After some days 85 - 95% RAM usage. Lagging and such. And your talking about is running well on that computer, stop saying bullshit.

Anyhow, have fun recording your screen with that ~ I am interested.
Other than that, I am not saying bullshit at all.

Some people running it:

****** ahead: 'Windows 7 on 512 MB of RAM'.
Also, I don't trust someone with messed up terms and bad English trying to make a stupid point, either.

The current video is using 367/512mb. 512-367=145mb left to be used. As you know windows will never use 100% of RAM. As you said before GTA: San Andreas running on 512mb that i was talking about. The RAM is reading and writing the current file opened very quickly it's like a temporary save. GTA:SA is using at least 128mb on minimum settings, so you can't come here and say GTA:SA is working on medium without lag with specs balbabla RAM 512mb beacuse isn't true. Yes you shown me a proof that i've already known which is running win 7 on 512mb. The question wasn't to show me win 7 running on 512mb, but playing GTA:SA on those specs + 512mb of RAM + Medium settings. I'm very curious.
Edit: About the links. Some of them can be fake. I mean the desktop can be clean without running many proccess. The windows can be formated recently. etc... Only the video is showing something. but is not the answer at my main question.

Windows XP.
All five of my laptops run Windows 7, and my computer already runs on about 50-65 FPS on GTA San Andreas (and I'm pretty sure 26-30 FPS on GTA IV with the highest settings). If your computer can't run a game released in 2004-2005, then your computer is outdated and sucks!
I might go for 7 soon.
