Ok so there is the minus rep feature, don't really have much to say about it but people can now vote someone down if they want, things don't just go up and nothing else. I think you shouldn't be able to -rep people past 0 because it just sucks, especially when you get the few occassional a-holes who gangbang some poor noob into -15 rep just for asking something. That hasn't happened to me (hope it doesn't for posting this ) but I think many of you will agree being able to make someone's rep go below 0 should not be possible.

Agree with that, -REP reputation shouldn't be enable when an user has 0 of rep.

This is getting ridiculous.

Apparently you care, a lot.

I've seen a user with 6 posts and -101 reputation. I don't particularly care as I have no need for it, but how does it make us as a community look if people have -reputation? It just makes us as a whole look horrible.

Do you even know the whole story behind this? That guy started a thread to ask for rep so he could advertise his (probably shitty roleplay) server. Naturally, people told him to earn it for himself and -rep'd him. He then started flaming at everyone and lulz ensued, resulting in even more -rep. I think he got banned after that.

I never made a topic asking for rep, I don't have a server, I don't think I've really been flamed here, I haven't been banned. Lies.

Vince isn't talking about you, he is referring to the person who you referred to on your second post on this thread and I quote

Fist of all, you do care. It's better to admit that than to try and deny it.
But anyway, you obviously have no idea how that happened. So let me explain.

Back in the day when we didn't have negative rep yet, people would come here, beg for rep, and actually get it. Then they could make a shitty advertisement for a server not staying open for more than 2 weeks, only to be never seen again. Great attributes to the community, right? It seems the mods agreed with me, because later on the people begging winded up getting banned.

Some time later, we got the feature everyone's crying about for some reason: negative rep. To me, this was the ultimate defense versus those people who come here just to make an advertisement, and doing nothing for the community in return. Seems I wasn't the only one, because the people who were begging now ended up with +/- -10 rep, instead of 5.

This particular guy, however. wasn't too happy with the fact that he had -10 rep points when he begged for them in a topic. In fact, he was so angry, that he started to insult and flame the entire community, and everyone in it. Newton's action-reaction law predicted that this wouldn't end well, and it didn't.

So no, this dude wasn't the victim, it isn't sad he ended up with -100 rep. He was a disgrace to the community, and deserved to be treated like on.
