Hi,
i noticed that the most tut's in this forum are about Netgear routers, so finally after getting my server online on my linksys wag200g router, i decided to create a tutorial about it.
the plan is as usual:
1-set a static ip
2-portforward
but since the linksys firmware is so outdated this could be difficult, lets start
1-
Open command prompt
XP: Start--->Run--->CMD
Vista: Start--->Search--->Command and select command prompt from the results
The black dos window is open right now, type " ipconfig /all " without the quotes of course
and heres what it should look like
/imageshack/i/12642971.png/
keep it open....
2-
Open the connection you are using, for example if you are using Wirless network connection, go to start-->Connect to-->Show all connections
and right click on your current connection you are using to connect the internet and select properties
a window should pop up, click properties
/imageshack/i/61569331.png/
3-
Now under the text " the connection uses the following items" theres a white box, double click on "internet protocol (TCP/IP)
/imageshack/i/39839065.png/
4-
on this step another window should pop up, tick the "use the following IP address"
and fill the boxes as following:
lets go back to the command prompt and see
IP Address: put the first numbers in your default gateway(192.168.1) and the last number should be around 1(for example 4)
***This step is where linksys fails, make sure that the last number is NOT used by any computer in your network, any device with wifi capability 'reserves' a digit, so the digit your computer uses should not be overlapping another device's digit
Subnet Mask: it should fill it automatically
Default gateway:the same as default gateway thats shown in your command prompt
====
now tick "use the following DNS server address"
and fill as the following:
Preferred DNS Server: go back to the command prompt and search for DNS Servers:
and copy it into your preferred DNS Server
Now click ok all the way.......
=====
Congratulations,,,, you have set your static ip, now you have to port forward port 7777
=====
5-
/imageshack/i/61928769.png/
type your default gateway in your browser address bar and click ok
it will ask you for the user name and password,
the default username and password for most linksys routers is admin
unless you changed it, you should know it.....
okay now we are in, click on "Applications and gaming" tab
/imageshack/i/65616491.png/
and to "Port range forwarding"
Fill the blanks as the following:
Application: anything(i called it samp)
Start:7777 -End: 7777
Protocol: BOTH(if not available choose TCP)
IP Address: right click on the connection you are using and choose the tab "support" and look at the last number in your "Ip address" and copy it there
and now tick "Enable"
Now scroll down and save everything
/imageshack/i/30015290.png/
Now lets go to another tab, go to "Status" Tab
and look for IP Address, copy it
now lets go to SA:MP 0.2X and click on add server:
Paste the ip you copied from "Status" in your router page, and add :7777 in the end
for example if the ip was 42.59.121.102 in your router page
/imageshack/i/38314893.png/
put 42..59.121.102:7777 and click ok
i hope the tutorial is clear and understandable...
