custom virtual ram
#1

ive been watching videos on how to set your virtual ram to a custom to speed up your computer. So i thought i would try, but im not sure how much to set it at.
Space available: 232884 MB
so i jet set the initial size and the max size to: 200000 MB

does that sound good? or will it like screw up my PC?

any help please??

EDIT: im running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 With 3 1 Gig ram sticks in it. (and a 9500GT Nvidia GFX if you need to know that too.)

I think your confused about what ram is,

ram = random access memory.

You probably have that and your harddrive space confused.

You want your memory to be in RAM when possible, not in your page file. The page file is a lot slower since it is on your hard disk... Microsoft suggests your virtual memory should be 1.5 times your actual RAM.

4608MB would be a good number for your 3GB's of RAM. It's 1.5 times your RAM size.

Tip: Leave it as it was if you're not having problems.
