max_execution_time increasing - cPanel
#1

Hi all,

I want to increase my max_execution_time limit because I want to install a software onto my domain but cant do so because it freezes on one of the steps.
How to do so?

As far as I know this is set in php.ini, which you do not have access to on a shared host for obvious reasons. I believe execution limit is set to 2 minutes by default. If execution takes longer than that either the host is crap, or the software is crap, or both.

Or its an outrageously huge amount of data (or a metric tonne of tiny little files) he's trying to upload.

OP: any chance you can use regular FTP instead of the cPanel file manager?

I do use FTP, or File Manager, but can't access it.
