Players lag with 100 ping?
#1

Hello guys,

Today i'm asking you about players lags.

It seams that some players use modifications to increase there lags.

It looks like they have a delay with the server or players because they cant be killed with weapons like "saw" it doesn't affect them, they can easily escape that, but when they attack you with "saw" they kill you in 2 second... But even with weapons like shotgun or tec it looks like there is a delay, they need a lot more bullets to be killed.

How's that possible?

I have around 30-40 ping, they have around 100 ping, playing on a sever located in france (roubaix)

The 90-100 ping is normal. About the lag its not related to mod but player location. Some players from UK/US they lag to my server due to vps located to Germany.

It depends in their connection. Usually I have 300 - 500 ping since I live in a 3rd world country named "Philippines" so it's normal for me to have that kind of lag. Also some times, the lag is also based in the FPS like if 30 below - it's lag and if 30 and above - not lag. If you would understand their connections it might be a big difference since you didn't acquire a higher ping as much as they do so intentionally it's not even called "lag" in their statement.

Ok, see the video below and tell me how is that possible? The fact is that fraps reducs this "lag" dont know how but it looks easier to kill him.

This player has around 90-100 ping... you can see you the video that he can "avoid" and even run the saw affect him partially ..

Did you check their packetloss?

Ping doesn't really tell much to be honest and way too many people depend on ping and assume the lower the better, yet it doesn't actually matter to be honest. What actually matters most of the time is the network itself, if the network is being choked or is utter shit you're going to have packet loss no matter if your 30 ping or 300.

The only possible thing if only a certain amount of players are lagging check to see if it's a certain region and than if that is the case it could be a network backbone that could be experiencing problems, a good way to figure this out is to contact your provider and provide trace-route and ping/packet loss examples so that they can figure out which backbone might be causing the problem.

The next possible thing is the network is just a piece of crap and doesn't have any real backbones, so the person is attempting the connection directly with no help (normally what happens with home hosted servers, as home ISPs normally don't provide a network with backbones) this means you need to find a new provider and try to find one that actually has a network with Tier 1 network backbones such as Level3 and such.

Now this is all if only certain people are lagging that are in a certain region or far from the server.
