Looks like you're not the only one with this problem. And the funny thing is they all subscribe it in the exact same way "Everything stopped working"

Just do a system restore to a time when it was ok. You'll lose some data but at least you wont have to reinstall Windows. Backup whatever you need on a USB or external hard drive before you do so.

If you mean rolling back the system to an earlier date, he won't lose any personal data from this. However it was the latest Windows 7 update that did this to one of my laptops, and I was forced to do a complete reinstall.

I had this issue time ago back in 2013 it was because it didn't turn my computer off correctly and everything just stopped working the only issue to fix this is restore from a backup or system restore to a older data or simply reinstall window's again.

I find system restore to be a terrible thing. I've used it a few times and the system always came out worse than it was before. In the event of a seemingly fatal problem I'd much rather reinstall Windows.

Why reinstall Windows first before even trying a system restore? If the system does restore it, which most of the time it does, then at least you don't have to reinstall everything.

The worst thing to happen would be fucking up something which is fucked up already, nothing more than that.
