How many players can play on my server at once?
#1

I have a few pc's that I converted to dedicated servers with battery backup and I wanted to know approximately how many players each one can handle.
Here are the pc specs.

1. Low power mini server
-dual core 2.6 processor
-2gb ddr2 of ram. Can go up to 4

2.retired gamming pc
-dual core 3.2 ghz
-4gb ddr3 ram. Can go up to 16gb

3. An actual server (prefer not to use because of power cobsumption)
-2 xeon 4 core processors
-12gb ram

I think the 3. Is overkill. I'm trying to use as less electricity as possible.

Also me Internet speeds.

Download mbps: approximately 60 mbps
Upload mbps: approximately 15 mbps

Please tell me how many players each computer can handle.

Thank you

On your low power mini server you can easily have 200-350 players. A SA-MP server ( just plain ) isn't that RAM-hungry, and you should be fine. However, you might get some lag due to it being ddr2.

If you install a version of ubuntu on your retired gaming PC, you'd get the best specs, for the lowest power consumption ). You may want to consider switching to ubuntu.

As for your download speed. It's O.K. but I'd say, rent a rack at a data centre for your server - since you'll get the best internet speed there as well.

The first one can probably handle up to like 200 players.. The second one 450 and the third probably like 700.

To use Ubuntu. Do I have to change my server files or do I just transfer them over to Ubuntu and launch them using a launcher made for ubuntu?

You use the linux files, shouldn't be too hard.
In any way, your internet is the only thing standing in between you, and many players.

Your hosting at home your connection won't be great, since it will be using standard home bandwidth.

Guys, just stop saying that home host will "lag like shit".
What if he uses the internet connection just for hosting, nothing else?

15Mbits/s ~ 2MB/s upload
So, running without problems, it should give you the possibility to have near 50 players without lags.

The unique thing which you SHOULD NOT DO at all is to use that internet connection for ANYTHING else.
