Learning French
#1

Hello,

For a while I've been learning a lot of French, however, not really anything sentence related, I.E I can ask questions that relate to things that I need or am providing however couldn't have a conversation with someone for directions. Can anyone recommend any websites to learn ? Or even methods that you guys have used to learn languages.

Thanks,

-Isolated.

Theres a concept called tandem learning. You find someone who speaks french and wants to learn your language. Even quite unintentional your random conversations will lead to you trying to explain language problems in each others language. This usually is very effective, and can even work if both of you got no idea of the other language (with much more time of course)

(I never did this but know several people who had great success with this)

Edit: Many colleges even offer events for this to find partners and get further assistance.

That sounds like it would work and perfect as we have a lot of French speaking people at my College. Thanks for the information Mauzen.

Well this maybe sound stupid but you could buy on of these holiday language guides you often find in tourist offices. Good ones contain some standard sentences and/or regular situations, like grocery shopping.

For the speaking you can try something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Trnmt66rogE

Though I have to say, Mauzen's suggestion is probably WAY better since it offers real communication.

Watch French movies with English subtitles, or play French games.

It's very difficult to explain the rules of the french language, even for a French
I think the "tandem learning" is not a good idea to learn this language, a website could do this better
