Interesting Viewpoint

Everything you code here, whether a program or a script, it must be open source. Here is the interesting point; SA-MP itself is far from open source. Why is that?

This is a touchy subject, that most would not touch.

I've never heard this question be asked. The only reasoning I could guess for it not being an opened source is underneath a validated license. Allowing the SA:MP Developers to create such client.

Say now, that's dangerous thinking, Paul. You best stick your gameplay.

Everything you code doesent have to be open source... Everything you release have to....

SA-MP is closed source and there are enough cheaters and cheat programs already, imagine how would it be if it was open source, besides every script/plugin/tool released here should include its source code so people can trust it, but samp is a trustable product, so there is no reason for it to be open source

closed-source = players
open-source = no players

Get it?

If you don't want to release your scripts then do it on a different site. That rule is only for security reasons. Perhaps one day when Kye decides to stop developing it any further he'll release the source, but I'm happy how it is for now.

^ This. MTA is open source and they get at their highest peak 12,000 players. I'm pretty sure SA-MP gets double if not more on an average day.

It's not a 'raig' topic or anything. Just a discussion, as I gladly develop things for the community and have no problems with open source.
