Built-in vs separate sound card
#1

I just got my new sound card today (xonar dx), previously I used my built-in one and an old pci simultanously. Now i feel like having listened to shit all the time. The new card generates a way better sound, more clearly and a way better bass management. The active subwoofer was neary unuseable before, as it sounded horrible and was annoying to adjust. Now it sounds as it should. Its like comparing 128kbit mp3s with 320kbits
Im mostly using it for music. Always use to say better listen to bad music in good quality, than good music in bad quality.

Just out of curiousity: what are you using, built-in or separate? Of course expensive cards dont pay out on laptop speakers, and also good speakers waste their potential with a bad soundcard. Im using a cat cs-900 5.1 system.

Separate card because the onboard doesn't do my headset justice.

I've never heard of roccat, looks like decent stuff.

I had a sound card because my video card was creating interference, but I went back to built in 5.1 after purchasing a new video card.
