I got a Linux box set up from a hosting company yesterday, I uploaded VXRP 2 as a test after making a note of the settings that had been on the server already, didn't touch a thing, just straight uploaded the package, following the Linux install guide then got the MySQL set up correctly.

Now, the server either gives a bash error about permission denied (which I assume I need to set it to 700, not 777 correct?) or simply won't start, the log never gets written to, the console stays blank after starting service.

I think I pretty well broke it, I went back to a fresh 0.3d install, same issue.

EDIT: Breaking it down...

1. I verified server was working on a default grandlarc install

2. Stopped the server, removed the existing files, uploaded the complete Linux VXRP2 package, the final one.

3. Got in touch with my host company's MySQL and edited mysql.txt accordingly

4. Tracert to my IP, that showed up

5. Start server, cannot load game mdoe, recompile under another name. Still no go.

6. Re add grandlarc GM, switch to that. Still a no go, permission denied

7. Edited permissions.

8. Started server.

9. Checked console. Console is blank after service started.

10. Stopped server
