Upgrading PC (Anything to change?)
#1

I have recently began to see a lack of power in most up to date games with my current setup. I'm looking to upgrade to something more powerful. I have been looking around and got together a few things coming out at around Ј800 which isn't too bad.

This is what I'm looking at:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/271040 -- Inno3D GTX 580 3GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/252535 -- Intel Core i7 2600k 3.4GHz Socket 1155 8MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/248846 -- Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176158 -- Arctic Cooling Freezer
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/260185 -- Asus P8P67 Pro R3 P67 Socket 1155 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard

I know the GFX card will be stable enough and future proof for a few years however I'm looking at the CPU mainly. I'm thinking of overclocking it to 4GHz, and I'm sure it will be able to play basically any game on the market just now.

If you have any suggestions on what to change it to feel free to say. (Please make sure it's only with ebuyer as I get discounts from bulk ordering). Oh and try and not go over the current price at Ј859.61

If you want to overclock I suggest you get the Intel i5 2500k Sandy Bridge, or for $100 bucks more get the Intel i7 2600k Sandy Bridge which really isn't needed unless you are doing very high intense programs that need hyperthreading.

The reference graphics card you have (gtx 580) is good but I never heard of "Inno3D". I recommend you stick to the main ones like EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte for the best service, warranty and quality. And if you want to lower to price a little bit you could go down to the GTX 570, which will still be future proof and like $150 less.

The CPU cooler you chose doesn't seem to come with any fans? I suggest for you to get this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...%20RR-920-N520

And again for the overclocking: your motherboard isn't a overclocking motherboard, it still is a really good motherboard because I am soon buying the same one soon, but if you want to overclock, I suggest you look into the Asus P8P67 DELUXE which has overclocking features to go to like 4Ghz+.

Happy buying

P.S: If you are upgrading from a old machine you might need to upgrade your power supply as well. How much wattage is yours currently? You should get at least a 750w to power everything you wanted.

I currently have a 1000W Dual GPU and CPU compatible, so it's over enough for what I'm upgrading too. The motherboard was actually the wrong one I linked to, I was further looking into this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/241996-asus-sa...sabertooth-x58

Seeing as when I am upgrading I will be having 2 GPU's that new one and my current GTX 260. (The PSU supports dual GPU's so it's good enough.) As for the GPU Inno3D is for the top range GPU's, Nvidia have it in most of there higher end GPU's. Not to mention it's shipping at Nvidia's default speeds of 772MHz for the one core. I'm looking to overclock the GPU aswell.

Also, that cooler has fans inside which blows the air about. (Looking at a new one tho)

That is a s1366 which is only compatible with 1st generation i7 series (9xx). You will need a s1155 motherboard in order to be compatible with the 2nd gen (sandy bridge) i5/i7 processors (2xxx).

Just realised this after posting, Ill be looking for another 1155 socket motherboard that is good in price.

Edit: found one I was looking at a few weeks ago: http://www.ebuyer.com/270701-asus-ma...s-iv-extreme-z

It supports 4x PCIe which I will need as the GFX card itself is pretty tall, it would cover the other socket. (Not to mention suck hot air from the GPU below it.)

You should look into watercoolers. They are pretty cheap, and reliable.

An overkill and a waste imo.

Your opinion is terribly wrong, when you look at the facts.
How is it overkill when it performs BETTER than air coolers at constant high temperatures?
How is it a waste when you spend EXACTLY the same amount of money on a air-cooler as you do on a watercooler?

Waste of time?

Explain please.

And I'm talking about pre-filled systems.
