What's your opinion on roleplay servers that sell ingame items for real money? I haven't found one roleplay server that doesn't do it at the moment, besides LS-RP and I'm not 100% sure.

What's the point of jobs, working for items when people can just purchase the items? It's not exactly equal for the ones from poor countries and it shouldn't be an option to start off with it defeats the whole purpose, working, experiencing...

Actually if you mean by donations, Well.. It's kinda non rp bec it's like you got those items OOCly without even rping gaining them in game or earning them, But in the same time Server needs to Give something to donators or not much people will donate..

donation - a voluntary gift (as of money or service or ideas) made to some worthwhile cause
gift - something acquired without compensation

It's not "donating", it's merely capitalising and using donations as a front.

The privileges they receive shouldn't modify gameplay.

One clear example, does this look like donating to you?

Well that's evidently not true, I worked with a server for years that got enough donations to cover the server costs simply by providing stuff that doesn't modify ic gameplay, different coloured name in ooc chat etc.

That is also an extremely valid point, you paid for San Andreas and the entire SA-MP experience itself should be free.

Donate if you wish to help a community you admire, but you shouldn't expect anything in return.

You are not paying FOR SA-MP, you are paying for an aspect that is controlled by the server owner. The SA-MP experience is free. You can join any server you want without paying a cent. If you want to contribute to a server by donating, then that is YOUR decision. Nobody is forcing ANYONE to donate, and if they are... then i have nothing to say.
