Okay, I'm about to rent a VPS.

Look at first VPS (10$ fee,192mb ram, you'll see..)
http://santrex.net/vpshosting.php

Is it possible to run a SA-MP server on it and how much slots?

It won't be great but it will run. If all you are doing is a SAMP server, you should be fine. Keep in mind...99.9% of anyone who says bandwidth is "unlimited" or "unmetered" is typically saying "If you start to use a lot of bandwidth we'll neuter you down to something barely usable".

There is no such thing as cheap bandwidth.

Okay, I'll have that in mind.
How many slots do I should set?

open slots don't use processor time...connected players do. Set it at whatever you want, then if you see performance issues when lots of players are on, drop it down a bit.

Okay, thanks really.
But that VPS is not so expensive (like a 100 slots SA-MP server), set up a server on it is easy, but I have full control under it.

Control is what matters. And yeah it is a cheap VPS but do NOT get your hopes up. It might work fine for you, but it might suck too. For $10 though, it will be a cheap learning experience.

personally ive had experience with santrex, along with 10-15 other vps providers, and it is hands down one of the best providers i have been with.

around 9-10 months ago a friend of mine was running a 200 slot samp server and a cs server off their 700mb package (openvz centos) and she never had any problems with lag, cpu or network overloads, and still had alot of resources left over, averaging around 25 players and peaking 40-50
