You need to install the client libraries, by installing the package for the distribution, that has that .so.
You're misinterpreting an OS error, as a server error.
(Search for whatever distribution you are using, and how to install MySQL Client. If you are using CentOS, save time, and switch to Ubuntu as it's VERY hard to get going if it does have an error.)
