If you don't have the laptop in warranty, you can get rid of the password by reseting the BIOS completely.
You can do that by removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard and placing it back.

Depends on the make and model of the laptop. I have an old HP here that has the battery in the same compartment as the HDD, which requires unscrewing one screw. But on my Sony Vaio I had to pop off the entire back cover. Not that difficult though. Unscrew all screws that you can find (keep track of which one goes where because some are different sizes) and the cover should come clean off.

Just do what the site says. (never had a password on bios, used goagle to find it). Also search on goagle for "how to remove the battery of [LAPTOP MANUFACTER AND MODEL]'
